Labour propaganda successfully subvertised in Manchester

Tom A | 15.03.2004 17:52

A small protest was held after the main Manchester demo at the security fence by a spin-tastic Labour "Big Conversation" poster outside the Central Library.

Don't mention the war!
Don't mention the war!

Soon the police come to try and spoil the show...
Soon the police come to try and spoil the show...

....but we stand firm
....but we stand firm

Still the police try to dissuade us from carrying on
Still the police try to dissuade us from carrying on

Reinforcements are sent in
Reinforcements are sent in

Still we are not swayed
Still we are not swayed

Our patience is rewarded as the Labour posters are taken down!
Our patience is rewarded as the Labour posters are taken down!

This small action soon got the attention of the police, who soon insisted that we could not have it stuck to the poster, and demanded that we hold it a step away from it. In spite of the police, who were on a power trip at this point, we persevered, in spite of a policeman who was "personally offended" by our action, and someone who had an answer to everything, and was generally insulting to everyone, we later decided he was probably an agent provocetur.

Finally, in what was a small victory, the security TOOK THE LABOUR SIGNS DOWN!!! Obviously it was causing too much of an embarressment so they were removed, a small victory in the battle to reclaim the streets of Manchester.
