a strip cell at the maple ward

a strip cell at the maple ward, part of the alleged community care of the working class. based at the northern general hospital sheffield. under the human rights act of '99 such cells are meant not to exsist. all you have is this rubber bed, the room is empty. when placed there you are stripped then left naked with out bedding. this one has light coming from an outside window. if you look at the door it also has a window. meaning those who have placed you there can watch your naked self. just down the corridor from this cell is the intensive treatment unit. where e.c.t. (electric shock treatment) is given. often the people are that far gone from prescribed drugs they simply agree with such treatment in their thought it will help them. e.c.t. involves sending electric shocks into the brain, of which i have also suffered. i'll never be sure at the damage this has done. it leaves you with a fuck off headache for weeks. a thirst for days. you whole life is simply disturbed. as you can see this barbaric act of state control is still in place. i have been in one at the former hospital of middlewood north of sheffield. also i have spent 7 days in something of the same at hmp hull. this time the bed being a concreate plinth of the floor, here i was left naked for 3 days. chained to the wall. my food coming from a hole in the wall. when a bucket for my human waste was passed into the cell. here there was no window. a light was on 24 hours. i did not manage any sleep. all the beding i had was a leather blanket to cover myself. before being placed there i was beaten. i was left in this strip cell bleeding from my wounds and no medical treatment was offered. following my three days in this hole i was placed into a cardbord cell, all furniture being cardboard. you are left naked, not allowed exercise and not let out to go to the toilet.
i was there for 7 days.

The lies about the strip cell on maple ward

21.12.2005 05:10

who ever has written the article about the 'strip cell' on maple ward must obviously be still very ill. This room is only used when there is no other way to keep either the individual safe or others safe. The person who ends up in this seclusion room (not strip cell) is given as much dignity as possible and staff who are looking after them would positively encourage people to be dressed. The person who is in this room is visited by a doctor by law and has a nurse outside this room at all times to ensure persons safety. I think who ever has written this is extremely irresponsible and giving people false information the public have already got a warped view of both psychiatric patients and services. The person who wrote this article needs to take a long hard look at themselves and work out why they feel they have to make up such lies. Perhaps they are angry at themselves and their own actions and want someone else to blame.

I don't like this thread. I know it is from a long time ago but my dad has been on that ward and they dont do anything like what the first thread said they do.

Its not nice as people who know people on that ward will worry for no reason

It is very irresponsible and I think that whoever wrote it needs help
