SPANISH BOMB NOTHING TO DO WITH AL QAIDA!

watcher | 12.03.2004 11:06

You are being misled!

Although John Humphries on the Today programme this morning did his level best to mention Al Qaida every 30 seconds, the Spanish and British experts he interviewed both agreed that there were no signs of this whatsoever: on the contrary, it had all the hallmarks of ETA. Humphries, finding his suggestions dismissed out of hand, then tried to suggest that ETA and Al Qaida might have been working together - without any proof of this at all. Do not be misled! Object vociferously to this misrepresentation of the truth, which can only lead to increased paranoia and the further clamping down on civil liberties everywhere

Oh yeah?

12.03.2004 11:31

1) Attack occured 911 days after 9/11

2) Van found with detonators and Islamic tape (as after 9/11)

3)No point in ETA bombing and then blaming Al Qaida

4) Spanish govt. needs to blame ETA or attack could be seen as govt.s fault for supporting unpopular war in Iraq (explosives analysed and blamed on ETA far too quickly)

5) Blaming ETA insures govt. victory in elections

6) "We, at the Abu Hafs brigades, have not felt sad for the so-called
civilians. Is it OK for you to kill our children, women, old people and
youth in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and Kashmir? And is it forbidden to us
to kill yours?"

if it was eta

12.03.2004 11:35

then it was unprecedented on two accounts.
firstly, eta (in common with the ira of yesteryear) tend to issue a prior warning.
secondly, eta has never carried out such a detailed and co-ordinated attack previously.
to me it holds all the hallmarks of islamic fundamentalists.
however, this, like the above post, is mere speculation. for all we know it could have been instigated by the state. afterall the popular party has stood resolute in its non-negotiatory stance with the "seperatist" movement of euskari herria and will undoubtedly reap electoral benefit from this happening.
alternatively, my mum? where was she and what was she up to these past few days?
i don't know and neither do you!!!!!

no body in particular

yes but what about the seizure of the truck?

12.03.2004 12:02

The facts about these terrible terrorist bombings would point away from eta - where it not for the fact that a truck load of explosives (500kg?) was seized recently on the way into madrid...

...and that last year there was aparently intelligence that eta was planning a railway station bombing.

???
