What happens at Manc Social Forum

heather | 05.03.2004 09:40

Just in case, anyone wants to know what we actually do..

Last night we discussed what we could do to help Parvin, who is an asylum seeker whose families asylum claim has just failed, the Ministry of Truth action last Saturday and what we will do with it next, further support for the locked out Manchester electricians, the International day of action on March 20th, whats happening on 13th March when the Labour circus rolls into town, the ESF, another Wall Down action on the 28th, Blackwood, 9Ladies and Kickstart…

And we finished 10 minutes early!!

About 22 ish people turned up last night, so next week we are making the move out of the tiny, cheap room and into something more comfy. Still at Friends Meeting House, next Thursday, 7.30.

We could do with somewhere cheap/free/central to meet up, if anyone has any ideas.
Cheers

Sorry to hear about the lost asylum case

06.03.2004 02:20

As someone who observed the tribunal hearing, I am angered to hear that Parvin and family lost their asylum case. My warm regards to all the family.

My daughter is a law student currently making a study of asylum law (with my enthusiastic assistance). I hope one day she can help asylum seekers.

Video clips of Ministry of Truth action

The Ministry of Truth action took place on Saturday 28th February in Market Street, Manchester.

It was one of the coldest days of the winter and the poor souls who had to stand still for nearly two hours propping up the "Dentention Centre" must have been frozen solid by the end. Never mind, Spring is on the horizon...
