there is a big difference between the imc furnishing imformation to da police and that of the police obtaining imformation.
your brief acussatory missive above does not tie up with the linked article with indicates that the imformation was OBTAINED.
it is common knowledge that the dark forces monitor our means of communication and will use them against us. this does not imply willing compliance.
your missive does without substance. shame on you.

no body in particular

IP?

it doesn't say anywhere in the article that the police were given the IP of the poster, only that they used a post to indymedia as evidence.

i thought it was standard indymedia practice not to record IPs of posters, ever since the FBI subpoenaed the server records after seattle?

The suggestion that the article makes was indeed inaccurate and you were right to hide it. What happened, briefly, was this. During the anti-FTAA actions, a bunch of black bloc'ers busted into a police van, and stole all the riot gear and the entire security plan for the summit, leaving behind the assault rifles. They then posted the security plan ("10:43 :: George Bush will enter the security perimeter via helicopter", etc.) on quebec.indy. The FBI flipped out and showed up in Seattle with a writ to get the server's logfiles - Seattle because that's where the .indymedia.org domain is registered to. The server admin was I believe legally enjoined not to reveal that the server logfiles were being requested, but it didn't matter much anyway because they didn't exist. No one was ever charged or prosecuted for this wanton act of rebellion and insecurity.
