Message from Malawi! Liverpool to meet Fairtrade Sugar Producer

Fair Trade producer comes to town! As part of Fairtrade Fortnight - a Fairtrade producer is visiting Liverpool on the 4th March - All welcome..........





In celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Fairtrade Mark, Liverpool welcomes Brian Namata - an operations manager from Kasinthula Cane Growers, Malawi.


Landlocked Malawi ranks among the worlds least developed countries. The economy is mostly aggricultural with almost 90% of the population living in rural areas. Established in 1998, Kasinthula Cane Growers main aim was to alleviate poverty in the area. Now six years on and KCG is responsible for supplying Co-op's own Fairtrade label sugar. The extra income earned from Fairtrade premiums is put into much needed community projects.

Come along to - hear Brian's "Fairtrade" story - The benefits that Brian, his family and his community have witnessed.

The event is to be held on the eve of Liverpool achieving Fairtrade Status.....
