eight people in court accused of being naughty at RAF fairford

After almost a years’ worth of faffing by the lawyers, CPS and inept Ministry of Defence police (the MoD plod) eight people arrested at Fairford last March finally got their trials today.
All were charged with aggravated trespass, one was also accused of criminal damage for supposedly cutting three strands of chain link fence.
The trial was heard by District Judge Clark who managed to come across as slightly more impartial than at earlier pre-trial reviews. A cynic might say that he was trying to create the façade of a fair trial with the media present – we will see tomorrow how much of the defendants’ evidence he is willing to listen to.
Five of the defendants were let off with bindovers to “keep the peace” for 12 months.
By this time it was 11.30 and Judge Clark decided that after an hour and a half’s work it was time for lunch.
At 2 o’clock the three remaining base invaders were called to the dock and the first prosecution witness took to the stand. This was none other than base commander Ivor John Morris MBE who turned out to be a gibbering idiot who contradicted himself repeatedly and didn’t seem to know what happened on his base on the day in question other than there were a lot of planes and people there.
Three more prosecution witnesses followed and at 3.30 the judge decided he’d done enough work for one day and adjourned the case til tomorrow morning.

The stitch up continues…………………
