Fairford Defendants on Trial Monday 23rd February

lala | 20.02.2004 17:20

Four activists are on trial in Cirencester Magistrates Court on Monday for criminal damage and aggravated trespass. The alleged offences took place at Fairford on the 9th March 2003, days before the start of the bombing raids on Iraq, when the USAF were busy loading bombs onto their B-52's.

The activists are using as their defence the fact that the war was unlawful, and therefore the activities taking place at USAF base Fairford were also unlawful. It surely cannot be a crime to disrupt an UNlawful activity.

The trial starts 10am Monday and is expected to last for four to five days. If anyone is in the area, and has nothing better to do for a day or two, support would be much appreciated!

So the defence is going to be "the war was illegal" I hope they didn't pay a lot of money for that legal advice.

Some guys in my area were arrested for blocking a military base around the same time, they refused to plead guilty or not guilty on the basis that they did not recognise the authority of a court in a country going to an illegal war. The government don't want the war to go on trial for minor offenses so their case was discontinued.
Good luck to Fairford 4
Dave fuck off

Prick Tease, if you want people to come and try your 'legal defence', you'd better tell us where you live.

Otherwise people might draw the conclusion that you're all talk.

Cheers all. Good luck to the defendants.
