can someone post directions to blackwood?

i think it would be really sensible if somebody could publish clear directions to where blackwood tree camp is and the best way to get there.
maybe im missing something but if there are directions posted on this site beyond blackwood gwent i cant find them.
its really great that there are people on site still resisting eviction
when we have directions to the site we can organise some people to go down
with some practical stuff.
i know as well as an old earth firster that i can get these details by making a few calls but they need to be up here with the call for more support because not everyone is in that position.

...alternatively, head for the trees, follow the detruction to the left and yip like mad! The noise of the machines should be enough if they're working...

Directions to Blackwood

13.02.2004 17:53

From Cardiff head north on A470, until Nantgarw exit and take A468 (I think it is) towards Caerphilly. See  http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=315000&Y=195000&width=500&height=300&client=public&gride=317337&gridn=197280&keepicon=false&coordsys=gb&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&advanced=〈=&scale=100000&out.x=10&out.y=9

Follow Caerphilly bypass, signs should be for Ystrad Mynach, and turn left at 3rd roundabout onto A469 north.

(From east/Newport, leave M4 at Junction 28 and follow A468 west towards Caerphilly. Ignore town centre signs and at 3rd roundabout turn right onto A469 towards Ystrad Mynach.)

At 4th roundabout (several miles), turn right direction Maesycwmmer, A472 I think. At this stage you should have picked up signs for Blackwood, if I remember correctly. At next roundabout turn left, at following one turn right, and at the next one turn left (phew!). You should be on the A4048 straight into Blackwood. See  http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.cgi?X=320000&Y=190000&width=500&height=300&client=public&gride=317337&gridn=197280&srec=0&coordsys=gb&addr1=&addr2=&addr3=&pc=&scale=200000&advanced=〈=&multimap.x=164&multimap.y=74

When you come in to Blackwood, follow the main road (north) into town, and cross straight over the first mini-roundabout. Very close after you will see a right hand turn (signposted for a pay&display carpark I think) which leads steeply downhill. Follow that road (Bridge Street I think) to the junction at the bottom, and turn right. The road zig-zags back and forth for less than 100yds and then comes to a single lane bridge over the small Sirhowy river. Once over the bridge, the road begins to climb, swings left, climbs some more, and at this point there is a small turning on the left (houses line the road at this point). Turn left here, and the road ends 20yds ahead of you. The old railway track is in front of you, and the works are all along the length of this trak, down towards the left. A lane runs parallel to the old railway track, along some of the houses there, and you can follow that down until you find a space in the fence to jump through. The camp is about another 2-3mins walk on down the tracks, and up on the hillside on your right hand side. Camp phone number is 07952 774525. Good luck.
