SECURITY FENCE OR APARTHEID WALL?
7.30pm, Thursday 26th February 2004
East Oxford Community Centre, Cowley Road

FILM & PRESENTATION
PRESENTATION (30mins) – by Paul Stockley, using photographs and maps to show the spread of the wall in Gaza and the West Bank.
FILM (25mins) – by Ian Hodgson, showing Palestinian and international demonstrators protesting against the wall in Qalqilya.
Paul and Ian travelled to Palestine during December - January, and will be happy to take questions on their findings and experiences after the presentation and film.
CONTEXT: For over a year now, Israel has been constructing a ‘security barrier’, officially intended to prevent Palestinian suicide bombers from entering Israel. But the 8m high wall encroaches well into the Palestinian occupied territories, eating up vital agricultural land and even requiring house demolitions along it’s route. Viewed as a outrageous ‘land grab’ by Palestinians, will it actually prevent ‘terrorism’ or merely increase the resentment and further fuel the resistance?
