1. Saturday 14th February - Valentines for Peace!

Gather outside the Town Hall with banners, placards, badges, and
polemic! A
protest against the ongoing injustice in Iraq, Afghanistan, and across
the
world. Leaflets to publicise forthcoming events will be there also. All
welcome! (peace and love needed, chocs and flowers optional:)

12 - 2pm Town Hall, just in front of the steps.

2. Sunday 15 February at sunset - Hold A Worldwide Vigil For Peace

Light a candle
Talk to neighbours
sing out
stand up

Because every life is precious
Last year February 15, Millions of people in cities around the world
demonstrated to stop a war. It's not over.

3. Wednesday 18th February - Open planning meeting

Meeting to organise the March 20th demonstrations, national and local,
what
you want to do? What do you think will work? Got an idea, then come
along and
get involved! Proposals so far include a picket/occupation of BP,
demo/march,
coaches to national demo. Also helping with Oil and Politics dayschool
and any
other gubbins.

7:30pm, St Matthews Church, Carver St (just up from the central fire
station,
down from Division st)

4. Marches etc in March

20th March - The global, national, and local demonstrations, in
Sheffield the
central group will co-ordinate actions with the local groups. Please
get
involved in your local group or the central group to help organise this
event.

27th March
- Oil and Politics day school (Contact Hunters Bar Against War if
you
want to get involved, details below)
- Sheffield Social Forum launch (www.sheffieldsocialforum.org/)
- One Voice for Peace concert ( margaret@smith1-2.freeserve.co.uk)

5. Peace in the park

The organisation of this festival is gathering momentum. At the moment
the
group are looking for feedback on particular points as they are making
a bid
to the arts council. There are regular meetings at New Roots on Glossop
Road,
including today from 8pm. There is a feedback document for any groups
interested, available at www.peaceinthepark.org.uk, go to the
"articles"
section.

below. All complaints get logged and counted. So if you see/hear
something you
think is a misrepresentation of the truth, don't sit stewing, get
dialling!

7. Local and Workplace Groups contacts

Local STWC groups meet all over Sheffield to discuss. Many are holding
public
meetings in the coming weeks. Why not get involved in a group near you?
If
there's no group in your area, try contacting a nearby group.

Or if you want to organise a group in your neighbourhood or in your
workplace,
school or college Sheffield STWC will do what we can to help, and if
you let
