Protestor Simon Alderson Shaw who was arrested following a demonstation against the war in Edinburgh on 22nd March 2003 has been found not guilty to two charges and not proven to one charge.
On 22nd March 2003 Simon was arrested at a demonstration organised by the Stop the War Coalition. He had been carrying an upside down American flag with a swastika and the words 'Fuck Bush' imprinted on the flag.
Three charges were brought against him, inciting racial hatred, breach of the peace and resisting arrest. On the first count, inciting racial hatred the sheriff found him not guilty as under the circumstances there was no evidence to suggest that he had incited, or was likely to incite, racial hatred.
On the breach of the peace charge the sheriff found that there was not enough evidence to convict and so a not proven verdict was recorded.
On the final charge resisting arrest the sheriff found Simon not guilty.
Mark Thomas organised a demonstation outside the police station where Simon was held in July last year and has mentioned the topic in several shows recently. He has produced 'Fuck Bush' postcards to be downloaded from his website, these can be found here: http://www.mtcp.co.uk/news.php?id=20

Don't forget that in Scotland a "not proven" verdict is the same as a "not guilty" verdict in the south. A "not guilty" verdict is damming of the police and fiscal because it means the case should never have been bought.
Use the link and send Fuck Bush cards to the two police officers responsible for the persecution. Let them know what you think of them.
