WSF reportback TONIGHT 8pm, Linacre College!

Oxford Resource Rights | 09.02.2004 12:29 | Oxford

Come and hear what happened in Mumbai at the annual World Social Forum, a gathering of activists, NGO's, and all those working for a better world. Panelists will have the opportunity to talk briefly about their experiences at the WSF, then there will be a question and answer session about the WSF.

8pm, Monday 9th February, Linacre College (St. Cross Road), Tanner Room

Panelists so far include:

Rahul Rao (OSAN and Oxford Resource Rights)
Elisabeth Agnell (OSAN)
Arry Fraser (Oxfam)

Following the conclusion of the reportback and questions, there will be a participatory meeting to launch the new Oxford Resource Rights campaign and to discuss how to take it forward. Oxford Resource Rights is born out of the Oxford Narmada Campaign, with the aim of defending the rights of indigenous and agricultural communities around the world to those resources (water, forests, land, etc.) which are under threat from globalisation and innappropriate development. Campaigns mooted for the forthcoming year include a campaign against the crazy 'Interlinking of Rivers' plan in India, anti-Coca Cola activism in the light of their theft of ground water resources in Plachimada and other places.
