Abdul Hadi Palazzi - Manipulating Muslims (second part)

Abdul Rahman T. | 07.02.2004 19:34

Second article from website  http://www.ifrance.com/amipalazzi about manipulation of Muslims.

Second part

I can say nothing as to the reliability of the information provided here, but there are a lot of footnotes and links, and it certainly appears to be extremely well documented: very little comments or rants. Unfortunately I don't know Italian, which most of the site is in.

I am putting this article up in several instalments, as it is quite long - bear with me and skip if you find it boring.

Introductory note

This text was originally written in Italian, for an Italian public, and tells the story of a uniquely Italian adventurer, a Cagliostro of our times.

For this reason, I have decided not to provide a full translation of the Italian text, but only a summary. If Italian is your second or third language, and you do know something about Italy, I suggest you read the Italian version as well: it provides a lot more information.

Journalists, politicians and religious leaders, people with enormous resources for finding information and great responsibility, have taken Palazzi at face value. This is entirely their fault: this website offers information which is readily available to all.

This site was not made to debunk Palazzi, who is actually a creative and rather amusing human being. It was made to expose those people who have taken him seriously, and who are in a rather uncomfortable position. If they really believed in Palazzi, they are fools and should not enjoy positions of responsibility. If they did not, then they are in bad faith.

Enough for now. If you want to complain, or threaten me, or tell me something more about this unusual group of people, feel free to write. I certainly will read what you write, Ie may well use it to add to our site, however very probably I won't answer your mails directly. I am almost as lazy as my cat.

"I curse the filthy finger that pushed the send button
on this bida'at [heretical] email."

A typical comment by Palazzi, in reply to an e-mail whose contents he didn't like, concerning an abstruse theological issue.

Take the jihad somewhere else, please

... yawn, how much more of this screed are we going to have to endure?

Did you not think of summarising the relevant parts? You already posted a link to the article.

I don't think your hate-driven extremist religious fascism is going to find much of a following here. I certainly don't think anyone wants to see multiple posts on it.

More to the point

Abdul -- very few readers of this site have anything like the background necessary to understand Moslem sectarian infighting.

Folks --- just like among the Christians there are sects which deny that members of other Christian sects are Christians there is some of that among Moslems -- more of it that the Sunni vrs Shia division that you MAY know about (though probably haven't a clue what it is about). I noticed ONE of the links refered (supposedly) to "Sufi-voodoo".

Abdul --- probably more of the readers at this site have seen (in translation) some of the sayings of Rumi than have a faintest idea that he was a Sufi let alone that he was a Moslem, that he was an Afghani, or what century he lived in.

Not just for Muslims

I don't think the gentleman who speaks of "hate filled screed" etc. really deserves a reply. However, it does show that people are aware of the Palazzi case well outside the Islamic world.

The Palazzi case is not about inter-Islamic feuding. It is about international politics and about how the "clash of civilizations" is manipulated, how imperial powers use religious entrepreneurs, and so on. In order to understand the issues at stake, you don't need to know much about Islam.

And if you are not interested (which is certainly your right) just skip!

Sufi voodoo

Sorry to PS myself... As you will soon see, "Sufi-voodoo" is no criticism of Sufi mysticism - it refers to a peculiar death ritual made by Palazzi and his friends. Nothing to do with Rumi and all the rest.
