Map of 'Liverpool Land Development Agency' ‘Eastern Approaches’ development area (with road names added in blue).

Their website is here:  http://www.liverpooldev.co.uk/eastern_approaches/site_plan.asp?open=5

If you go there then click on the links ‘more details’ and ‘Edge Lane’ the site tells you that:

“The project proposes to improve the Edge Lane corridor from the end of the M62 to the City Centre fringe at Hall Lane. Work will include improvements to the environmental qualityof the route and reduction of significant bottlenecks.”

If I remember correctly, Hall Lane was identified some time back as a ‘significant bottleneck’ and a road widening scheme proposed in which houses would be demolished. With the church on Hall Lane standing in the way of the only other possible widening scheme, it was about this time our the bishop of Kensington Regeneration took off on a sabbatical to Oxford.

I haven’t found a map of the proposed area of house demolitions in Kensington but if some are near Hall Lane it could be to do with road expansion.

We say NO to MDC?

06.02.2004 17:19

I just spotted the above poster in a shop in Kensington today, 6th February 2004.
What does MDC stand for? Surely it's not Merseyside Development Corporation, as I thought that organisation finished a couple of years ago. So what does MDC stand for in the Kensington context then? I'll get a digital picture of it next time I'm out and about.
