new Anti-terrorist laws: Media Black out

Nosfou | 04.02.2004 18:07 | Terror War

On monday the 2 feb all the terrestrial news programs reported on David blunkett's new anti-terrorist laws, there is now a media blackout.

Can any one find more information on this. The new laws include secret trials and convictions on the possibility of the individual committing the crime. details vanished within minutes of the broadcast, atleast from the usual places.

no media blackout

David Blunkett was just floating a few ideas around, probably nothing will come of it, but if any more concrete proposals come to light, you can be assured that they will be extsively covered in the mainstream media. The media can not cover a story continuously, especially when there is no more information other than a few sentances to go on.

I tried this search on news.google.co.uk
 http://news.google.co.uk/news?q=anti-terror+law+UK+Blunkett&num=20&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&safe=off&edition=uk&filter=0

it's not a blackout but interesting that a lot more hits were for news sites outside the UK than within it.

but it's still just a document / proposal : when it gets voted on or used to detain people then more reports will appear (unless it contains reporting restrictions - i wouldn't be surprised by that).

Bonkers Blunkett

Blunkett comes out with wacky notions like this every couple of weeks or so. Most of them get no further than from his fevered brain to his tactless mouth!
