York AntiWar/Galloway meeting

Over 200 people turned up for the meeting organised by York Against the War.
The meeting was pulled out to the University campus by the bizarre decision of the original venue, the Station Hotel, that their name could not be used on publicity. Yet there was still a suprisingly good turn out from town.
Everything started with a minutes silence for Tom Hurndall and others that have died for Palestine.
The speeches followed, with the spokesperson from the MAB (Anas Altikriti their media guy? sorry wasn't paying attention to names) extolled the virtues the diversity of the 'Stop the War' movement. Lindsey German SWP/STW emphasised the importance of the continuing movement. George Galloway was excellently angry and expressed everyone's disgust at the powers we have now. He was almost demure about plugging the RESPECT Unity Coallition.
The questions from the floor were open and well answered. Generally emphasing the need to do something! A pro-our-boys set speech was voiced. Lindsey German either didn't get or decided not to answer directly the question asked to her about currently promoting local action. You never know STW plugging Block the Base as a local action :-)
York UNITY were at the meeting helping to mobilise against the BNP's recent concerted, though covert, late night leafletting. The BNP seem to have their sights set on doing electoral work in North Yorkshire. York UNITY were publicising a public meeting on Monday 16 th February – 7:30pm at York Priory Street Centre.

Ger(k) Francis. Ta! Very much for your thoughtful input. Ditto anon. About as good as something from the original Ger Francis?
I think you didn't read the article properly or maybe I was being too subtle. +1 the people who turned up and continue to do real political work in and around York. -1 the rest.
