The latest Shortwave Report (December 19) is up at the website  http://www.outfarpress.com/outfarpress/shortwave.shtml in both broadcast quality (13.1MB) and quickdownload or streaming form (3.3MB) (28:38) It's free to rebroadcast, please notify me if you're airing it and haven't notified me in the last month, please mention the website if you only air a portion. If you just want to listen and have a slow connection, try the streaming version- lower sound quality but good enough and way easier if you don't have a high-speed internet connection. If streaming is a problem because of your slow connection, download the smaller file- it takes 20 minutes or less, and will play swell in any mp3 player application (RealPlayer, Winamp, Quicktime, iTunes, etc) you have on your computer.

This week's show features stories from Radio Netherlands, Spanish National Radio, China Radio International, and Radio Havana Cuba.
From Netherlands- In Guatemala police arrested 2 suspects in last weekends murder of Fr. Ruiz. Ecuador’s President is facing drug money accusations and has reshuffled his cabinet to improve his image. French President Chirac supports a ban on school children wearing Islamic headscarfs, Jewish skullcaps, and Christian crosses. Iran wants to bring its own charges against Saddam Hussein, preferably in an international court alongside George Bush and Ariel Sharon. Then a Dutch Press review from Tuesday.
From Spain- Some Spanish press reviews on the capture of Saddam. Palestinian militants turned down recommendations from Egyptian mediators trying to advance the peace plan. In a Greek court, multiple life sentences were handed down to the masterminds of the so-called November 17th guerilla group. In Colombia a suspected rebel commander was arrested, and a British Greenpeace activist against illegal Amazon logging was found murdered. At the World Court, the US has rejected Mexican claims of violating the rights of 52 Mexicans on Death Row.
From China- An analysis of where to try Saddam for his crimes and whether it should be an international court. China is denying that it provided military support of Iraq after the first Gulf War. China says Taiwan’s Defensive Referendum is a serious provocation. Israel’s secret plan to assasinate Saddam Hussein was published with great controversy.
From Cuba- Israel will again not allow Arafat to go to Bethlehem for celebrations, and some details about the conflict over the wall Israel is building. Then a Viewpoint on Italy’s Prime Minister Berlusconi, who is currently the head of the European Union.
