Right-wing conspiracy theories on Indymedia

; | 17.12.2003 12:34

Is Indymedia an anti-immigrant forum?

The libertarian conspiracy theorist Mounicq has posted on Indymedia, or someone has posted for him..

 http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/12/282938.html

His material, which is available on libertarian right-wing sites, criticises the 'Muslim takeover of Europe'. That theory is popular in the US. It is less easy to persuade Europeans that their governments are mullah cabals, intent on introducing the burqa.

The question is: what is this racist nonsense doing on Indymedia?

Well presumably, someone is rabidly posting as much of this rubbish as they can manage in the hope that some of it will get removed. I assume we can then expect to see rants about how anti-semitic Indymedia is for removing some of it...

indymedia states it does not accept racist material etc etc
but because of the open posting system that allows anyone to upload
(which is great for demo reports and for participation)
some idiots and scum do post to it (like may other similar sites)

people try to monitor and remove such racist crap from the newswire

that's about it, no conspiracy - but something to be ever vigilent about
