ANTISEMITISM-ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

JEW | 16.12.2003 11:43

At a plenary meeting of the Board of Deputies yesterday, Cobi Benatoff, the new President of the European Jewish Congress (EJC), and David Veness, Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, addressed deputies on the dangers and realities of rising antisemitism.

Mr. Benatoff spoke of his aim of making the EJC more of a European institution and of working to defend the rights of European Jewish citizens. After pressure from the EJC, the European Summit had recently raised the issue of antisemitism for the first time in its formal statement. The EJC were planning a seminar in Brussels in January, sponsored jointly with the European Commission, to study the issue of rising antisemitism in Europe and possible ways of combating it through legislation, police enforcement, educational programmes and other measures. Mr. Benatoff assured the Board that, whilst in the past European leaders had underestimated the threat of antisemitism, it was now being taken much more seriously.

Assistant Commissioner David Veness acknowledged that Britain now faced a new dimension of the threat of international terrorism which impinged upon all of our lives. In order to respond, it was the responsibility of governments and authorities to engage in a global alliance. He noted that, “We now see a degree of political will, political commitment and leadership which is heartening. If we are global in terms of our threat, then we are global in terms of our response.”
He added that the bombings in Istanbul had been a wake-up call for Europe. There was a need, particularly amongst those communities who were in the frontline as targets, to understand the long-term dangers and to engage in a balanced and rational debate in order to reduce risks.

Board President Henry Grunwald QC noted the importance of having a debate on this topic. He commented: “It was a valuable opportunity to receive the informed insights of both the EJC President and the Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. David Veness has proved himself time and again to be a true friend of the community and we have always received nothing but the highest cooperation from the Metropolitan Police in protecting and defending the community. We also applaud what the EJC are doing to tackle antisemitism on a European level. We need to embark on a European-wide campaign to deal with anti-Jewish incitement which is entering European countries on the internet, through satellite channels and through the Arab media. We may never get rid of antisemitism completely but we’re not going to give up the fight. The time is right for us to make our voices heard and to say enough is enough.”

Anti semitic argument is bollox, it went out with this has been published (by Mossad) on an an extreme right wing web site . who are the fascists these days ? Well here's a clue Gian franco Fini (AN) italian fascist leader is now big buddy of Israel and the extreme right wing jewish community of Italy .
Seems like roles (poles) have been reversed and left is right is wrong ...
How long can you cover up the fact that Israel is evil it is part of an axis of evil if and when europe decides that enough is enough we will have some top of the range nukes pointing at our cities.
Racisim can only be directed against Jews , the fact that they consider Arabs to be dogs is not in the equation.
Glad that you mention the war against terrorism, brought to us by CIA/ Mossad productions in the form of Al Quaeda courtesy of the American tax payer. Bin Laden disney films director and all that old balon

Has this site been invaded by the rather dubious 'Human Rights' group the Anti Defamation League? There does seem to be a lot of posts about anti-semitism at the moment. Most of them appear to be (very) thinly disguised rants aimed at Muslims. And how has 'anti-semitism' suddenly spread to include anybody who disagrees with Israel's Palestinian policy? Or anybody who dislikes a particular person (e.g. Ariel Sharon) who just happens to be Jewish.

I think some people need to get the massive chip off their shoulder and realise that some people are disliked because of their personality or actions and not because of their religion, skin colour, sexuality etc.

I think the idiots who spend all their time looking for things to get offended by just to make themselves feel important are doing as much damage as any bigot when it comes to causing divisions in our society because they take attention away from real issues in favour of pointless PC rubbish that gets attention just because they're being loud and angry.

This is why anti-zionism is wrong

17.12.2003 14:57

Anti-zionists claim they are not anti-semitic while at the same time they support the idea of a homeland for other ethnic groups such as Kurds, Tamils, The Irish (through support of the Irish republican movement). But they deny that the Jewish population should have a right to a homeland. Considering just how much the Jews have been persecuted down through history surely a homeland of their is the least the Jews deserve.

By the way before people jump up and say what about the Palestinians what about their right to a homeland, Israel did offer them a state of their own in the year 2000. And there is already a state made up of many people from the same race as the Palestinians - Jordon!

Zionists claim they are not racist while at the same time claiming that support of the idea of a homeland for other ethnic groups in their own homeland such as Kurds, Tamils, The Irish (through support of the Irish republican movement) means that Jews from all over the world should have an exclusive homeland in Palestine. But they deny that the Palestinian population should have a right to a homeland. Considering just how much the Jews have been persecuted down through history surely they should recognise that a homeland of their own is the least the Palestinians deserve.

By the way before people jump up and say what about the Jews what about their right to a homeland, they have homelands all over the world in their countries of origin: the US, Russia, and Western Europe. They then offered the Palestinians the right to keep just a tiny slice of their own land in the year 2000, at the barrel of a gun, and pretended that this was a generous offer. And there are already states made up of many people from the same religion as the Jews - New York City alone has more Jews in it than Israel!

Bored of this crap

The second commentator here needs to be a bit more fucking careful! The first commentator stated, "Israel did offer the Palestinians a land of their own in 2000", the second in his-her oh-so-ironic piss take said, "...what about the Jews what about their right to a homeland, they have homelands all over the world in their countries of origin: the US, Russia, and Western Europe. They then offered the Palestinians the right to keep just a tiny slice of their own land in the year 2000". The implication here is that "the Jews" made an offer. No matter what you think about the settlemetn offered by Sharon's administration it was an offer made by the Israeli state, not "the Jews". This identification of "the Jews" as a unified body, able to make collective decissions and with power to implement them IS THE BASIS OF MODERN ANTI-SEMITISM. You should think about the crap you say before going an publishing it.

And as for your comment, "New York City alone has more Jews in it than Israel!" I'm not really sure what your point is

www,indymedia.org in the end has had to cut out all facility to comment. And to submit articles as individuals. That's where we will end up too. These people, pro and against, are fanatic. It's a waste of time replying to them. Don't go there.

Jewish myself, actually
