Mick Jagger Breaks Burma Boycott - Protest Friday

Keef Richards | 10.12.2003 13:53 | Repression | Social Struggles | Cambridge | London

Mick Jagger, yep, him, has just broken the Burma Boycott. So we're gonna protest against him on Friday.

Today is Human Rights Day - 10th December.

Millions are thinking and acting about the continued lack of human rights and democracy in Burma (www.burmawatch.org) by continuing the international boycott of Burma.

One man, however, doesn't give a fuck about the Burmese.

Mick Jagger.

In the last week of November, 60 year old Jagger broke the tourism boycott against the Burmese military junta by taking a young female and his bodyguard to the Regents Hotel in Rangoon.

So we are extending International Human Rights day to Friday 12th December, the day that Mick Jagger gets his gong from the Queen.

To greet Sir Mick when he picks up his state award from the Queen, Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese community of London and the Music Industry Human Rights Association invite you to attend a demonstration at the Palace at 10.30, Friday 12th December 2003

Arise Sir Mick:

C'mon, help us make Mick's day - Be with us all on Jagger Friday.

"Back in the early sixties, I followed Mick Jagger into a Newcastle hotel when my band was resident for a week at the Go-GO. I couldn't make out why the staff were so surly, and asked. One of them then told me that a week before, Mick had ordered a sandwich without parsley. Upon receipt of said sandwich with parsley, he first turned away, then turned back and spat the parsley into the waiters face."

Multi-millionaire Sir Mick Jagger is still spitting, in the face of Bianca (Amnesty) and his partner Bono.  http://www.mihra.org
