Resist the Multinational Empire
The Coca Cola Boycott
Conference organized by the Colombia Solidarity Campaign

Saturday 6 December 12.45pm to 5pm
SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) London WC1

An international boycott of all Coca Cola products was called in July this year by Colombian Trade Unions and the World Social Forum. Over recent years eight trade union leaders working at Coca Cola bottling plants in Colombia have been assassinated by paramilitary death squads, allegedly working under orders from the plant managers. Yet despite a US court agreeing that they have a case to answer, Coca Cola’s subsidiaries still refuse to cooperate and protect the lives of workers in Colombia.

Come and discuss how we can ensure that Coca Cola listens, how boycotts can work and how people all over the world are resisting the ‘multinational empire’.

The federation of Jewish students will be picketing this event!

The federation of Jewish students will be picketing this event. This event is about spreading Palestinian propaganda and lies about Israel! The people putting on this event do not know the whole facts about the Middle East conflict. Israel is being unfairly blamed for things it is not responsible for, all Israel is doing is ensuring the defence and security of its citizens. Israel does not deliberatly perecute Palestinians as wrongly made out by pro Palestinian organisations. If all Palestinian terrorism against Israel stopped then all the security measures imposed on Palestinian areas would be lifted. The Palestinians should be blaming the real people responsible for their plight - the Palestinian terrorists!

Its a shame you didn't come

...because you would have had the chance to hear a wonderful song by surprise guest Leon Rosselson that evening, all about a Jewish spirit and tradition far, far removed from the bigoted vision you represent. In my view, one main difference between the terrorist Israeli state and the terrorist Palestinian groups is that the former is a state and as such can kill more people. Luckily many Israelis are critical of their own government and have been brave enought to refuse military service.

Calling Isreal a fascist state is an insult to those who suffered under fascism

08.12.2003 15:06

If you think that Israel is a fascist state then talk to someone who suffered under fascism in German Occuppied Europe. Nazi Germany banned trade unions, rival political parties, tightly controled the press, controled the judiciary, and ruthlessly persecuted anyone who disagreed with the Nazi regime. Millions of European trade unionists, socialists, religous groups, ethnic groups were imprisoned in slave labour camps, with Jews, Gypsies, Homosexuals, Jehovahs Witnesses being sent to extermination camps. The Nazis murdered six million in less than 5 years in extermination camps from 1940 to early 1945! Not only that but two million Poles perished under Nazi occupation as well as 12 million Russians. In all World War Two started by Nazi Germany claimed the lives of 55 million people!

So next time dont even think of comparing Israel to Nazi Germany. The suffering of the Palestinians is nothing at all compared to the suffering caused by Nazi Germany. Israel is also a democracy with an elected Parliament, free trade unions, free press, an independent judiciary and equality under the law for everyone regardless of race colour or creed!

but to be fair

they didn't call Israel a fascist state, they called it a terrorist state

-

eh?

08.12.2003 17:09

who called Israel fascist? they said 'terrorist'

Jew know what I mean?

Jewish student, you poor misguided fool! The Isreal state is effectively fascist, and has been increasingly moving away from a secular society - nothing like Nazi Germany, but nevertheless perhaps the ONLY - nation state in the world that is steering it's course to a one-race population. That will of course never happen, because the those citizens of Isreal and Palestinians living in Isreal, and also those Jews living in what will be the new Palestine, know the only possible future is to live together. The DUP and Paisley in N. Ireland reluctantly accept this now too.

You are still wrong

The Jewish people are not one race they are only one religon. There for instance white European Jews, Black Jews from Ethiopia, and dark skinned Mediteranean looking Jews. Israel is not racist. Anyone can apply to emigrate to Israel whether they are a Jew or not. Israel is only trying to maintain a Jewish majority in Israel for a very good reason. That is because for centuries the Jewish people have been persecuted in every land they have settled so they need a land where they are in a majority to provide a safe haven in times of persecution!
