Court Appearance
Front for Rights and Freedoms | 30.11.2003 22:07 | Repression | London
The case against the six people who were arrested and charged under anti-terror legislation in December of last year for supporting the struggle for democracy in Turkey continues at Kingston Crown Court this coming Friday, 5th December.
Their appearance is a directions hearing and is likely to be the last one that they will have to attend before the start of their trial in February next year.
Within the last week there have been numerous arrests under the Terrorism Act and again they follow the same pattern. Politicians confirming live on television the guilt of those arrested, details of those detained splashed all over the papers and follow up arrests leading to more detentions. No quick or fair process is guaranteed for those that find themselves on the receiving end of these operations. Almost a year to the day of their arrests and the six are still no nearer to having their chance to defend their beliefs and character.
Friends and supporters are encouraged to attend and are advised to be there for 10:00 am.
