Eid mobarak

Paul | 24.11.2003 11:39 | Oxford | World

Eid mobarak to all muslims for Eid starting tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be great if non muslims said 'Eid mobarak' to muslims. It would let them know that a lot of people disagree with the negative impression given by much of the press and certain politians.

This is a good opportunity to share the celebration of the most important Muslim holiday. It might help counter act the negative impact of recent world events and the feeling of persecution many Muslims feel in the UK.

Try saying 'Eid Mobarak'.

Paul

Thank you Paul. It means alot to me that others of different faiths and cultures, sympathize with British Muslims as we continue to endure constant barrages of Islamaphobia and vilification in the press and through government propoganda.

However, what British Muslims face in terms of discrimation or racism, is nothing compared to the suffering inflicted on the Afghans, Iraqis, Palestinians and the rest of the destitute of the earth. Each day for them is a struggle just to survive.

The people of this country did not sit idly by and watch as our government attacked yet another ravaged country, and It makes me proud that the largest demonstrations in the world against the war in Iraq, were here in London. The so called "clash of civilisations" which is being stage managed by the powers that be, has failed, as we have shown that no matter what our religious or political persuasion, we have all united for peace and an end to war. The true human spirit has prevailed.
