the campaign against climate change protest set off from lincolns inn at about seven and marched to the us embassy for a rally with various speakers including michael meacher.

about a thousand protestors including comedy activist mark thomas, the rinkydink sound system, a huge model of the world and the rhythms of resistance samba band marched down kingsway, past a heavily protected esso hq, along the strand up to picadilly and then on to the us embassy.

the protest was generally good natured although some police were pushing people on lower regents street.

the samba band was joined by sambaistas from barking batteria and the sheffield samba band, so a huge and rousing noise was made by more than twenty five players.

the protest made lead news items on the ten o clock broadcasts of both itv and bbc and some of the pics below were vidcaps from those.

rhythms of resistance will be seen on the streets again on all the days that bush is in town. watch out for them and come and be part of the conscious crowd.

This is a call to all youse lovely people

I tink some strange is 'appen' when our bloger from Shef tells us that;
"Policing appeared to be light, even sympathetic"
check:  http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/2003/11/280859.html

I was there and this is how it was - but given how nasty they was to us when we protested at DSEi- the arms industry not the US President- why are they being so friendly now-at fiirst, I couldn't get me hed 'round it- but

I think it's 'cause, with Bush the British 'establishment' has summit to gain from our resistance.

I was just listening to the BBC World Service {as you do}, when I herd them announce that that during BUSH'S VISIT, the Pageantry of the State would be mixed with protest {cue samba sound effects}-
I think in some sections of the media, the Brit elite is making an obvious dig at the current USA system, where a person can only protest in Free Speech Zones far from where anyone might see you or anything is happening.

Putting it bluntly or Blunketly, what the British state is hoping to gain from this mess at this stage, is only some measly capitalist concession on steel quotas-
not justice for working peoples -
not good for the environment -
but that's why the cops and media were nice to us today -
I'm sorry but I can't imagine them bastards talked or cared about our environment at all tonight

Those Brits - they're such good Mangers - better than Yanks

Emm - no thanx
{No Gods No Masters}

Please all psychic witches to direct and channel our nightmare on B'House tonight-

As sambista we know that it is the organised solidarity of people that makes the difference to a protest feeling half empty or half full

Wee will not be anyone's useful fools
our resistance is as global as the earth
Love
Life
See
Youse In
The streets

PS
Freedom is like our bodies
The more we uses 'em
The stronger they get
