Resist Bush | 12.11.2003 15:53 | Bush 2003

George Bush will be coming to the UK for a state visit 19th - 21st November 2003
Resist Bush is an umbrella group of activists to help individuals and groups make sure his UK visit is a truly memorable one - not just for George, but for his host Tony Blair.
Wednesday 19th November - Resist Bush Tea Party
Mass protest and civil disobedience, 3pm, Buckingham Palace.

And now is the time to prepare:

so download these flyers

and these stickers:

and let's all make damned sure this is a visit he'll never forget.

ResistBush is calling for a day of open mass non-violent civil disobedience for the first day of Bush's visit. This will be a space where all groups and indivuals can come to protest together in large numbers. Please get the word out to as many people as possible.

Resist Bush is also co-ordinating a mass sit-down protest as part of the Tea Party on the 19th. This will be open to everyone to join. We stress that this action is a call for NON-VIOLENT action i.e. 'action which does not harm or degrade any human being'. Please see the flyer for more details.

Resist Bush is supported by the GROW network ( Grass Roots Opposition to War).

Interesting moment

Never in the history of Britain, has Her Majesty's Government offered its hospitality to someone as hated, despised, and feared by the greater British public as is George Bush. He is genuinely unwelcome.

This poses an interesting challenge for the psywar/media doctors, who want Americans to live in an imagined world where Bush is a respected world leader and where American foreign policy was more than mere piracy rule-of-the-bully. Will they (probably) simply cover Brenda giving dinner to Bush at Buck House?

Or will they cook up a nice 'black bloc' set piece to screen under the voiceover "hundreds of British extremists fought the police in London on the occasion of G Bush's visit" -- then they do a montage with the Buck House footage, and Tony the Liar wearing his best smile, and maybe fifty carefully chosen pink bodies (with the odd Paul Boateng careerist thrown in) applauding-- yeah that would work wouldn't it?

Additional internet protest

In ADDITION to the massive protests planned for the visit of Bush to the UK, an online "sit-in" is to take place on the Downing Street website.

Timed to coincide with the big London gathering, the online protest is very easy to do and very effective. To take part simply RIGHT CLICK and SAVE the file in this link:  http://downingstreet.tripod.com/ds.zip , unzip the contents and follow the instructions. Easy!

A similar sit-in managed to shutdown the Downing Street site at the beginning of the war on Iraq for quite some time.

A collective effort WILL close their site! Spread the file to as many people as possible. It is virus-free/safe/easy to delete once the protest is over.

(This is intended as an ADDITION to actual protesting, and not a replacement for it. I just thought I'd mention that before anyone starts trolling with "armchair anarchists" or some similar nonsense.***This is a duplicate post from earlier, I am posting it in Bush protest posts so it gets as much exposure as possible. Hope that's ok****)
