55 000 Iraqis killed!!!

ram | 12.11.2003 12:45 | Analysis | Anti-militarism | Anti-racism

I was wondering why the recent report of '360 000 Iraqi dead in mass grave' story as circulated in our local pig media came about. Never found the answer until now; It has nothing ot do with Prince Charles getting butt fucked instead probably everythign to do with countering a UK based charities report on 55 000 innocent Iraqi civilians killed since March of this year!

That article is a lie. If you read the actual report here:  http://www.medact.org/tbx/pages/sub.cfm?id=775
it makes it clear that firstly Medact estimate that "between 21,700 and 55,000 people died between March 20 and October 20" and that this is the sum total of all "combatants and civilians", not just civilians as the article claims.

Medact estimated that the deaths consist of "Between 7,800 and 9,600 Iraqi civilians" and "394 Coalition combatants" while "estimates of the number of Iraqi military deaths range from 13,500 - 45,000".

You can argue about whether killing Iraqi troops is acceptable, given that many were conscripts who had no choice but to join, and it's likely that many more civilians died than have been reported, but lets not purposely mislead.

I take your word for it. I probably should have read the article than get sidetracked by other interesting stuff on the charity's website.
No wonder the al Jazeera is termed the arab CNN.

Still as pointed out the army became the only job available for most poor Iraqis.
The invasion of Iraq was the wrong thing to do. Instead a big apology for our dirty past and active integration of of the country inclusive of the 22000 to 55000 murdered citizens and minus a lot of very very pissed off people should have been the way forward for the energy problem.
