Israel’s racist UN resolution

rene | 12.11.2003 02:02 | Repression

This week, Israel introduced a resolution in a UN General Assembly committee calling for the condemnation of “Palestinian attacks on Israeli Children.”

Who ever said that Sharon does not have a sense of humor. For the first time ever in 25 years Israel has introduced a resolution in a UN General Assembly committee. This calls for the condemnation of “Palestinian attacks on Israeli Children.”

Data from B’tselem, the Israeli human rights group, shows that since the beginning of the first Intifada on December 9, 1987 through July 20, 2003, most of the children killed in that Mideast conflicts have been Palestinians. The killing ratio of the war on children children is about 7 to 1. With 688 Palestinian children being killed by the Israelis, and 97 Israeli children being killed by the Palestinians.

This Israeli resolution ignores the much greater targeting of children by the murderous IDF. Only a complete racist can take such a resolution seriously. Perhaps the Israelis should go another 25 years before presenting another such resolution.

Arabs want to keep killing Jewish children

Arab Diplomats favor vetoing resolution demanding an end to targeting of Jewish children.

Last week the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution demanding that Israel “protect Palestinian children.” It’s obvious to any unbiased observer that Israel never deliberately targets Palestinian children, although it is true that sometimes children are caught up in battles or, more often, used as shields by terror gangs. Sometimes they are even killed by Palestinians themselves, and then the deaths blamed on Israel, as in the case of Mohammed al-Dura.

On the other hand, Palestinian terrorists deliberately and cold-bloodedly shoot little girls hiding under beds and babies eating with their families, and blow up schoolchildren on buses, and murder teenagers in nightclubs and pizza parlors—but today Arab nations announced that they will oppose a UN resolution introduced by Israel condemning Palestinian terrorist attacks targeting Israeli children.
Palestinian envoy Nasser al-Kidwa said Arab delegates, meeting at UN headquarters, concluded the Israeli draft had been written "as a bad joke" and should be voted down.

"Frankly, we were not amused," al-Kidwa told reporters after the meeting. "This is an anti-Palestinian resolution, much more than it is a pro-Israeli children resolution."

"The Europeans say they will abstain. I can't see anybody voting in favor of this," he said. "We hope they [the Israelis] will wake up and forget about this."

Rene's satire

'rene' - your article is satire, isn't it?

Obviously you don't really believe that murdering children can be justified on a quantative basis - what's an acceptable number of slaughtered babies? Very good, you almost had me there! A good way to expose the hypocrisy of opposing this resolution, well done.

This is a disgusting little trick ...

.. as usual from a wretched system.

We are expected to swallow this resolution whole?

Are we expected to forget the innumerable resolutions passed and not acted upon?

Are we expected to forget the innumerable resolutions vetoed repeatedly?

Are we to forget the mass slaughter and desolution brought upon countless Palestinian, Bedoin and Arab children, women and men?

Isreal expects us to forget all this and enter into some racist fairytale land resolution which condemns the killing of SOME children.

But yes I support the resolution (making the bizzare assumption that it is a 'resolution' towards peace)- it wouild be wise for others to also, for it is squarely aimed at exploiting the bitterness and resentment of 50 years of israeli manovouring and obtusification at the UN. It's diplomatic thrust centered on the necessity of israel to deflect the massive - and growing - criticism of it's racist, greedy and hatefilled crimes.

I'm sure there will be those at the UN, who can't or won't stomach supporting such an obviously shallow ploy, pathing the way for a protracted hand wrentching spree of sickening predictability:
israel is surrounded by hostile barbarians
israel is only acting in defence
israel has the right to whatever it deems neccessary for it's survival
israel can't be defended through international diplomacy
israel is the wounded part
israel is totally innocent and has never done anything wrong

Yet again we see the present authorities in israel/amerike acting in bad faith.

And yet also, we are wittnessing ever more shrill attempts to maintain that thin vale of respectability ... how more obvious does it have to get before the pressure from below is too much for those above?

Wish I knew - got to keep on pushing ...
