Wired.com has quite a good article on the new BBC i-can "citizen activism site".

Best of all: the links to the spoof website: "I can't"  http://lordrich.newmail.ru/ican/ ,
which rightly so critisises the approach of the interactive website, like in "We're never going to discuss anything important to anybody,". And looking closely at the BBC-ican site, it is obvious enough: most matters are trivial and so is the advice given.

Other concerns raised are matters of confidentiality within the BBC set-up, raised as "Let's get you on MI5's secret list by adding your comment,". Particularly activists don't trust the state's media agency, especially if there would be a conflict of intrests looming.
Another issue is certainly the persistence needed to uphoald a genuine discussion board. just click onthe complaint button under the comments, and the entry is most likely to be soon removed. Has controversy a chance at the BBC? We'll soon find out if the website will stay as lame as it is right now.
