Jeff McKenzie arrives in Australia. This is not a one or two day protest. It is an eight month walking prayer, 2,000 miles in Australia and 1,400 miles in Japan, attempting to forward a message to the world that we can and should have a nuclear free future.
Military Families Speak Out(MFSO) representative Jeffrey McKenzie from Gasport NY, USA has arrived in Australia to begin the International Peace Pilgrimage Towards A Nulcear Free Future. As a peace activist and the father of a medical helicopter pilot, who recently returned from Iraq, Jeff brings with him a unique perspective about what he calls "the culture of war".
Jeff's Statement of purpose:
"As I arrive in Australia to participate in the International Peace Pilgrimage, I realize I am a foot messenger and will be a visible reminder that there are alternatives to the nuclear cycle and the endless spiral of violence. This is not my journey, it is our journey. Each of us has a part in the nuclear cycle and the culture of war, but together we can create a better, peaceful world for all humankind. So take a step with me towards peaceful solutions, wherever you are and bring along a friend or two."
In love, peace and solidarity, Jeff
The issues of nuclear weapons, nuclear waste storage and transportation, nuclear mining and environmental destruction, past nuclear testing and the deadly results on an unknowing public, the devastating effects on indigenous peoples and their environments, etc, are all being addressed during this pilgrimage.
Please join in, you can help. This is an important event that you can support in many ways either by joining in the pilgrimage or by working in and around your locale to bring awareness to these important issues. Please visit the links attached for furthur details.
