Isreal announces investigation into Tom Hurndall's shooting

The Israeli Judge Advocate General has announced that there will be a military police investigation into the shooting of Tom Hurndall, the British ISM activist shot by the IDF in Rafah in the Gaza Strip. Tom was shot in the head while trying to protect of a group of children from Israeli fire.
One cannot help feeling a certain degree of cynicism as to whether it is at all likely that the investigation will come out with the truth. The official investigation iinto Rachel Corries' death cleared the driver of the bulldozer and the Israeli military of all responsibility. Since the beginning of the second intifada only 9 soldiers have been charged with illegal killings and not a single conviction has been obtained.

‘Human shield’ to lose life support

28.10.2003 17:50

The family of a British activist shot by Israeli troops said they would turn off his life-support system. The announcement by the family of Tom Hurndall, who was shot in the Gaza Strip in April, coincided with an Israeli army decision to investigate the shooting. Hurndall is a member of the International Solidarity Movement, a pro-Palestinian group that sends “human shields” to the West Bank and Gaza Strip to prevent Israel from carrying out anti-terror operations.
