Lockheed Martin and the Canadian Census

A call for help from U.K. activists

Lockheed Martin was just awarded a contract to help conduct the 2006 Canadian census. The contract has stirred public outrage and there's a real chance a national boycott of the census can be organized for 2006.

Was any attempt made to fight Lockheed Martin's participation in the 2001 U.K. census? What were the strategies, and was there any public outrage in the U.K.? U.K. policies and public action still hold much weight in Canada because of the historical link. If there was any history of fighting Lockheed Martin in the 2001 U.K. census it would greatly strengthen the hand of those fighting Lockheed Martin here.

A search of the web didn't turn up anything. If anyone might know of any resources documenting public opinion and action against Lockheed Martin it would be greatly helpful.

The organisation spearheading the fight is Vive le Canada at:

We will be very grateful for any help you can give.
