Liverpool One World Week

This week is One World Week in Liverpool, and several events have been planned to celebrate the fact that we all share one planet, regardless of the imaginary lines they call borders.

The programme is:
Tuesday, 21 October 2003: “Exile” (Tali Atzmon, UK ), a short film on the music & politics 7.30 p.m. – 10.00 p.m of the pro-Palestian UK-exiled Israeli jazz musician Gilad Atzmon & ” In Memory of Friends” ( Anand Patwardhan,
India ), a film portraying violence & terror in Punjab, India,
including ethnic and religious conflict. The two films together
explore issues of racial harmony. Presented by Pertier Media at the Casa, Hope Street, Liverpool L1.  http://www.pertier.com

Wednesday, 22 October 2003: Major film showing & Festival activities planned at Plaza evening Community Cinema, 13, Crosby Road, Waterloo, Liverpool L22 (to be decided later in September, More info 285 40 35

Thursday, 23 October 2003: Palestinian evening, organised by St. Michael’s Church, also
& Friday, 24 October 2003: One World Party, St. Michael’s Church, West Derby (places limited but currently welcome minority ethnic performers)

Saturday, 25 October 2003: “One World – Moving Stories “, multi-cultural, multi-activity
1.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. event, Granby Centre ( ex-Primary School ), Granby Street,

12.00pm - 8.00pm Stanley Theatre, Guild of Students, Liverpool University, Mount

Films from Differnt continents
Sunday 26th October
12 noon to 5.30pm
Liverpool University
Stanley Theatre, Guild of Students.

12.30 - On the recieving end
A politcal documentary involing several exciled journalists - discussing struggles from Camaroon to Siarra Leone.

1.15pm 'To Bring A Smile'
The story of those working with Child Soldiers - followed by discussion with Joe Henno a CAFOD worker campaigning on behalf of Child Soldiers.

3pm - 'F' Metin Yegin's shocking and powerful film about the politcial struggle in Turkish Prisons.

4.20pm ' Dirty War of Colombia' - The truth about the USA's so called `War on Drugs'. Followed by discussion with Javier Pena - a Colombian Human Rights worker.

Organsied by Star cost: £1 a film or £2.50 the lot.
