Women against war - Iraq, the aftermath

takeaction | 08.10.2003 18:07 | Anti-militarism | Oxford

Public meeting in Oxford organised by the Network of Oxford Women (NOW) for justice & peace.

PUBLIC MEETING

with CAROLINE LUCAS, M.E.P.

and TAHRIR SWIFT from the IRAQI WOMEN'S LEAGUE

at St.  Columba's Church Hall, Alfred Street, Off High Street, Oxford

WEDNESDAY 15TH OCTOBER at 7.30pm - ALL WELCOME

*  Weapons of mass destruction have not been found in Iraq

*  Allied cluster bombs and other debris of war lie around, endangering the lives of civilians, especially children.

*  The chaos of the aftermath, lack of water and electricity supplies increase hositility to US and UK occupation.

*  Yet Bush threatens more military action against Iran, Syria and elsewhere.

We call on women to unite.  Tell the politicians - War is Not the Way! Invasion has not solved the problems of Afghanistan and Iraq.

This meeting is organised by the NETWORK OF OXFORD WOMEN  (NOW) FOR JUSTICE
AND PEACE.  We reach out to women's groups throughout the world (we recently supported a women's delegation to the West Bank in Palestine). We call for the world's resources and for advances in science and technology to be used for the benefit of all the people on the planet, instead of for military confrontation.
