Heathrow Terminal 5: Crane Occupation ended

ionnek | 08.10.2003 14:23 | London | Oxford

As a protest against the airport expansion programme, eight people from "Hounslow Against New Terminals" occupied a crane on the construction site of Heathrow's Terminal 5 on Oct 6. Four were brought down and charged with aggravated trespass the next day. The four remaining protesters called for support (1 | 2), preferably with cameras. According to Heathrow Press Department, they stayed on top of the crane until Saturday 11 Oct.

the bbc says:
"Hounslow Against New Terminals (HANT) - which includes protesters against airport expansion from across the UK as well as local residents - has claimed responsibility for the protest. It said the protesters occupied the crane to demonstrate against the government's "aggressive airport expansion programme" and plans for a sixth terminal and third runway at Heathrow." ... and someone sends congratulations.
