Thurs Oct 9th - IRAQ AND PALESTINE - THE REALITY OF OCCUPATION
Ian | 03.10.2003 15:29 | Anti-militarism | Oxford
OXFORD STOP THE WAR COALITION
Public meeting.
Thursday 9 October at 7.30pm in Oxford Town Hall.
“IRAQ AND PALESTINE - THE REALITY OF OCCUPATION”
The speakers will be:
JAYYAB ABU SAFIA - A young Palestinian from the occupied territories
LINDSAY GERMAN - Convenor of the Stop the War Coalition
KATE HUDSON - Newly elected Chair of CND
Of course, we all read the newspapers and watch the TV, and from that we try and understand what is going on in Palestine. But through Jayyab, this meeting gives us an opportunity to hear the voice of the Palestinians themselves - telling us in their own words, what it is really like to live under occupation.
In February, an unprecedented two million people marched in London for the most noble of causes - to try and prevent an unprovoked military assault on another nation. The government’s response was to simply ignore us. With two national leaders of the anti-war and peace movements on the platform, we will also focus on the current situation in Iraq, on what happens next and where we go from here.
ALL IN ALL, AN UNMISSABLE MEETING!
