In a city that shamelessly self-promotes itself tourists witnessing a riot would be bad for business. It would also mess up the traffic in a substantial part of the city.

Forum 2004 which runs from May-Sep next year is the latest trash 'cultural' event set for the city. You'll doubtless hear about it in the UK. KDLM plus other threatened social centres such as Ateneu De Korneya (16 years old), Les Naus (9 years old) are threatened largely because of this event. Les Naus an artistic rather than an overtly political social centre lies in the heart of the Gracia barrio and is worth a fortune thanks to the yuppified area.
