The invasion of Iraq was not illegal at all!

01.10.2003 14:43

The invasion of Iraq was not illegal at all. It was legal under the terms of the 1991 Gulf War ceasefire agreement which was ratified by the UN. The ceasefire agreement stated that Iraq was to give up all its chemical, biological and long range missiles up for destruction within TWO MONTHS for destruction. UN weapons inspectors were to verify this destruction not to have to act as detectives as they ended up doing. Iraq though refused to comply with the ceasefire agreement and attempted to thwart UN inspectors attempts to find and destroy its banned weapons.

Iraq was therefore in breach of the UN ceasefire agreement after the original two month deadline and therefore liable to invasion at any time!

If Iraq had wanted to avoid invasion then it could have easily destroyed ALL of its banned weapons in front of UN inspectors to leave no doubt that they were all destroyed! The blame for the invasion was therefore entirely Saddam Husseins and not Britain and America who were merely enforcing the terms of the 1991 Gulf War ceasefire agreement!

There were no weapons of mass destruction. The invasion was carried out to achieve regime change, which makes the invasion illegal.

bush and blairs only reason for invading Iraq was to rid it of its Weapons of Mass Destruction, you know, the ones that didn't exist.

Of course they didn't exist!

Of COURSE those weapons didn't exist--after all, Saddam destroyed them all and provided the evidence of doing so to the United Nations and the United Nations was so convinced of their destruction that they removed the sanctions upon Iraq in response.......oh.....wait a minute.....*that* never happened.......did it...???

Shame on them

No, and shame on the UN for keeping sanctions in place that resulted in at least half a million deaths (by their own agencies' estimates) from lack of medical supplies etc.
