Two thirds of Iraqis supportted the war!

BAGHDAD, Iraq, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Nearly two-thirds of Baghdad residents say the removal of Saddam Hussein was worth the hardships they have endured, a report said Wednesday.

Despite the collapse of government and civic institutions, looting and violence and shortages of water and electricity, 67 percent of 1,178 Iraqis told a Gallup survey team within five years, their lives will be better than before the U.S.-led invasion.

Only 8 percent of those queried said they believed their lives would be worse off as a result of the military campaign to remove Saddam and his Baath Party leadership, the New York Times reported. The survey, which was conducted in late August and early September, cut across the ethnically diverse landscape of the capital.

So there you have it! Even according to the Iraqis the war was right. You are wrong and your anti-war movement is fast dimishing as highlighted by your pathetic ten thousand turnout for your anti-Iraq occupation rally!

Not even Tony Blair has claimed this yet, but I suppose you could tell him.

Inaccurate

Even according to the police the numbers were 20,000 and it could have been higher than that when it was 100,000 according to the organisers.

Police estimate reported here:

War or sanctions,, you choose

And no link to the actual poll? Other results were not so cheering, for example, a majority of Baghdad residents now say they are worse off compared to before the invasion.

Iraq had been under crippling sanctions for 13 years in any case. Given a choice between sanctions and war, war might be the better option. You may recall that we were applying the sanctions because Saddam had these mysterious invisible WMD.

So it goes

Did they interview any of the dead guys in this poll?
Funny how they never get a voice in these matters.
Say, maybe Gallup did one of it's infamous polls
of the population by picking names out of the phone
book and ringing them up.
