court tomorrow for BP AGM protestor

holter | 24.09.2003 23:41 | Bio-technology | Ecology | Repression | London

Because of actions at the BP AGM, at royal festival hall, 24 april 2003, one person is up in court today, wednesday 24 septemebr, at the inner london crown court, near elephant and castle. i'll post up court room and time when find out later, but will be about 10-10.30am start.

the person was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage after allegedly throwing a smelly liquid in the reception area of the festival hall, as bp shareholders registered. he was also arrested for breach of the peace. after being held for 12 hours at brixton police station, and stripped by officers in full chemical and biological protection suits, the charges magically changed to affray and common assault, for allegedly temporarily blinding a security guard. affray and common assault is what he is on trial for from tomorrow.

come and show your support if you can - the trial will last for two, maybe three days - updates will be sent to indymedia. you can come and sit in the public gallery.

all the best to everyone else going through arrest and court hassles at the moment, support people already locked up - write to 'em!

initimidation and malicious prosecutions are nothing new - at least bp can't take us out and shoot us like the paramillitaries they supported in columbia to disappear trade unionists and activists against their oil pipeline there. at least we don't get killed like bp workers in alaska where the multi-billion dollar company doesn't cover decent health and safety. at least (most) of us have homes to go back to, unlike the indigenous people's and species dislocated by oil exploration in the amazon, west papua, turkey, and on and on and on.

find out more and take action...
