Mad Pride maintained a presence at the Hutton enquiry on Tuesday, in conditions of blistering rain, as part of their ongoing 'stop the suicides' campaign.

Did you know? More than 6000 people commit suicide in this country every year.
The government’s proposed Mental Health Bill seeks to introduce community treatment orders with enforced medication. The very people who urgently need help are too afraid to seek it.
If there had been:
• A crisis house available
• A 24-hour helpline
• Sympathetic treatment on offer
Maybe David Kelly and 5,999 others would still be alive.
Worth trying isn’t it?
Force the issue
Not the patients
Mad Pride is…
Mad Pride was formed in 1997 and is comprised of ex-psychiatric patients and enlightened others. Sick of the ‘loony’ tag, outraged by increasing stigma and legislative attempts to nab and jab us, we campaign on urgent issues, risking our necks and the wraths of our shrinks.
Fuss about nothing?
If you think we’re making a fuss about nothing, just look at the tabloids or try getting a job with a mental health record, or look at the rising death figures among people who are over-prescribed toxic drugs.
Stop the suicides
The stop the suicide campaign was launched after another painful death, that of somebody whom we all loved and respected immensely.
We say: too much now
We are pleading with the government to stop ignoring thousands of deaths and to start treating us humanely. The government claims that 1 in 6 adults in London has a severe mental illness. This must touch every family in the city.
David Kelly’s death was preventable. So are the 5,999 other deaths from suicide every year.
