What?
Enrager.net is an anti-authoritarian internet based project originating in London. When complete it aims to bring together Britain based anti-authoritarians and anarchists like never before. Structured around a newswire; allowing everyone to contribute their news & analysis, a collection of webpages; providing listings and information on anarchist action and theory in Britain and a set of discussion forums; allowing anti-authoritarians to communicate & develop links, it plans to fill a gap in the British non-hierarchal "movement".
When?
We have been working on this project since late June and expect it to be finished by autumn 2003 at the latest.
'Enrager'
'Enrager' is a French verb meaning "to be angry or furious". We thought the use of the word was appropriate in describing the nature of many people's feelings in the world today to the capitalism system.
'Les Enragés' were a radical group who emerged during the French Revolution opposing the Jacobins. Initiated by Jacques Roux, Theophile Leclerc, Jean Varlet and others, they believed that liberty for all meant more than mere constitutional rights. Roux once said that "liberty is no more than an empty shell when one class is allowed to condemn another to starvation and no measures taken against them".
