Report back from the WTO and the Environment meeting held in Oxford City Town Hall on Thursday 18 September 2003.

The first picture is of Caroline Lucas Green MEP representing the South-East of England. She talked about her dealings with Pascal Lamy at Cancun and the impact of WTO rules on small farmers in Britain.

The second picture is of John Madeley, Author of Hungry for Trade and Food for All. Talks about the impact of WTO rules on GM products and the control of the food chain by multi-national corporations.

The third picture includes Richard Hering, Anne-Marie Sweeney and John Madeley who are surrounded by the banners of some of the organizations that support Oxford for Trade Justice. Anne-Marie Sweeney (film maker and trade union activist) MC'd the meeting.

The fourth picture is of Richard Hering from Brazil Solidarity who talked about the Movement for Landless Peasants (MST) and its commitment to participatory democracy and how it uses the farmland it confiscates to produce food for local needs.
