Some participants tried to get contact with the European education ministers but didn`t came through due high security...
During a workshop concentrating on the current Ministers' Communiqué and the development of the Bologna Process, the participants elaborated a paper analyzing the chances and risks arising from the creation of a European Higher Education Area (HEA).
One of the core demands is the one for more participation of university teachers and students in the process. The legitimation of the ministers' summit for making far reaching decisions without a direct and democratic basis has been called into question as well.
The need for taking into account social aspects of mobility as well as of access has been strongly emphasized. Otherwise, whole social groups and regions of Europe and beyond the borgers of the continent would be excluded from the benefits of a European Higher Education Area, which could provide a lot of advantages for students' social situation and mobility, if the above mentioned aspects would be respected seriously.
People at the EEF are willing to bring themselves into the process, but there seems to be no possibility to be heard by the ministers.
