The current dispute is over. On the 21st August 2003, a ballot was held. 84% accepted the latest offer of £6.50 hr with no change in working conditions. This seems to reflect a victory for the strikers.
I believe the above is about a strike in Devon. Drivers for Stagecoach and members of the GMB.
Here in York we have also just had a bus stike (similar timing) which was settled at the beginning of September with pay at I believe £7.20 an hour for a reduced 37-hour week from Novemeber. That's First Bus and TGWU.
Yet, still I think wages to generally be around £8 an hr... time for some national co-ordination?
