While the Pentagon frequently claims that the casualty rate of Americans in Iraq is low, they often fail to give statistics of U.S. soldiers who have been wounded and have had to be evacuated from Iraq.

6,000 American servicemen have been evacuated from Iraq due to medical reasons. Furthermore, London's Observer newspaper has obtained figures that over 1,500 of these soldiers have been wounded, many seriously, since U.S. military involvement in Iraq began in March.
