Update at 11.30 am. All protestors have now been arrested and have been taken to Charring Cross police station. Reports suggest that DLR was blocked for one and a half hours and that removing the protestors involved cutting equipment and shutting down the power to DLR at East India station.

East India DLR -train blockaded for1 1/2hrs by one man

10.09.2003 11:14

A man used a bicycle d-lock to attatch himself by the neck to a train carrying exihibitors and customers of DESi. He stood on a shelf in front of the driver's cab, above which there were conveinient handles for locking to. He was wearing a t-shirt which read "Drop Scones Not Bombs" and chatted to passengers, many of whom took photographs and expressed support There was support from many passengers. Trains were stopped in both directions and power was cut off. Police took about half an hour to arrive and at least 45 mins to break the lock, busting a set of bolt croppers in the process. Was arrested and taken to Charing cross station, saying he had had a 'fantastic' morning.

Not so clever

Congratulations!

I live over the road, and require the DLR. Most people supported your NVD until you stopped us all getting home last night. It's hard enough to live over the road from this crap (boat flyby's, helicopter searches at night, etc.) without morons making it more difficult.
