psychiatrist declares Kelly a suicide, right-o

word from the sponsor | 02.09.2003 20:31

a leading psychiatrist is [ well-nigh certain ] Kelly was a suicide...

according to Keith Hawton, Kelly almost "certainly" committed suicide.

here is an interesting bit of analysis from the professor:

>>>>>>>>>>

"Prof Hawton said the suicide was also consistent with the fact his elderly neighbour, Ruth Absalom, had said he seemed "perfectly normal" when she met him about a mile away from his house on the day he went for his fateful walk.

"It is consistent with the notion he had made his decision before that to end his life, or try to end his life."

>>>>>>>>>>>>

far be it for me to second guess a psychiatrist (heaven forbid), but might not the fact that Kelly seemed perfectly normal be a sign that he was acting normally??

now now of course it's an UTTERLY OUTRAGEOUS LEAP OF IMAGINATION for me to interpret the testimony this way...

isn't anyone smelling some kind of god-awful stench today?

unlike those who are just making wild guesses.

nothing like an expert witness

Who would trust the medics eh?

A paramedic at the scene suggested that the loss of blood was too little to have caused the death.

Elsewhere, a doctor wrote to the Independent confirming the well known fact that it is unusual for people to die after slashing their wrist(s).

But then these guys are pro medics. What do they know ?!

If you have previously made a decision to end your life, you're probably quite happy about the prospect of whatever you're going through being over, and at going to 'a better place' (Bahai beliefs include the afterlife). If he had already made the decision to do it and was firm in that decision, he would be in a calm state of mind, hence being able to talk to his neighbour calmly and normally without any worries on his mind. If he was still undecided, hed have been pretty nervous. If he had not contemplated suicide, then he would probably be still in the frame of mind which his wife described - feeling nervous and worried about the future, and betrayed. Its pretty hard to act perfectly normal when you feel done over by the government and the press, can see yourself losing your job, quite possibly ending your lifelong career, worrying over more public appearances, the possibility of going to jail for Official Secrets violations, and having the world's journalists trying to find you in a massive manhunt.

Under those circumstances, I would say acting "Perfectly normally" was a pretty odd thing to do.

i gather that bahai beleif states that it is
somewhat akin to a sin to commit suicide...

 http://bahai-library.org/introductory/suicide.html

considering he was talking of being found in the woods...
wouldn't his freinds collegues twig something was amiss ?,
(if, of course they knew his religous beleifs)

it was stated by authorities that he was 'found face down'

but another witness
(police dog handler) stated that he was found
'slumped against a tree with his arm in a funny position'
