I went down to ExCeL today to have a look around and get a general feeling for the area to get ready for the protests. The whole place is open just to walk into without being questioned.

More importantly I managed to stand next to several conversations with organisers briefing others (Stewards & the BBC) on security arrangements. Now what I gleamed isn't going to get people in, but it will give a bit more weight to your blags.

I also had a good look at a load of the security passes and have mocked up one for peoples info.

Checkpoints:

The area surrouding DSEi is going to be divided into 'Zones' these are numbered 1 - 10. A team of stewards with a Zone Manager will be manning each one. A fence will be erected by the Holiday Inn to the west, this will be the main check point, and delegates will be lead from their to the west terrace.

Another check point will be set up near the custom house DLR entrance to the centre, See Photo.

The opening conference / speech will take place on the first day on level 3 in a conference room. This is primarily for press, the organisers will not be taking questions (surprisingly!) but will instead read a statement.

The ID cards are plastic credit card sized, they hang from metal chains and sit horizontally, some are in plastic holders, others just have a hole punched.

That is all I can remember at the moment, I will post followups if any more comes to my mind.

Have fun, be Angry, Be prepared.

dsei badges - the official ones are hologrammed. i've got one here. they will probably shine infra-red on them to check whether they are correct or not when people come in. also the bar code will be swiped. if its not a correct barcode you won't get in.

Should be interesting though. am going to see if I can take photos of "cluster bombs" that shouldn't be there.
