Busy Busy Busy...Road Resistance at Bilston Glen, Midlothian

Bilston Glen Anti Bypass Site | 28.08.2003 23:00 | Ecology | Free Spaces | Technology

New treehouses going up, old barriers coming down. The resistance to the road through Bilston Glen Woods and the Midlothian countryside needs people to come down, build defences, cheer us up, etc.. Come and join in our September events.
We are expecting eviction this winter/autumn!

Upcoming events at the Bilston Glen Anti Bypass Site

6,7,8th Sept - Budefest!
2 or 3 days of riotous PUNK including Oi Polloi (tbc), Social Insecurity, Eat Yer Greens, plus many more, even some bands from England...

27,28th Sept - Work/Action weekend
Come down and help sort out site and have fun, meet people etc. You know it's a good idea.

Also, if you'd like to come down and stay, your presence would be greatly appreciated, especially during mid-September cause loads of people are going to a festival, and I'm not (boo-hoo)

The planned road is a private project backed by BIOTECH (famous for cloning sheep)and other companies. It is a bypass to the A701, 8 miles south of Edinburgh, at Bilston near Penicuik.

The local woodland is in the way & will be chopped down. Senseless destruction of our natural heritage for the sake of profit maximation.

In June 2002 a camp was set up to make a visible & radical point that we oppose the plans of Biotech and the council.

Directions from Edinburgh city centre - 37/37a from Princes St/Nicolson St. Get off 1st stop in Bilston. Go through metal gate opposite VW showroom.
